Melbourne is awesome!
It's official.
My car has not been stolen
I have not been hit by a train/tram
I have not been hit by a car
I have not been mugged
I have not been offered drugs or contraband of any sort
I have not been killed by wolves (not likely in any major urban centre... but you can never be sure...)
I have bought Japanese dinner for 8 dollars
I have been to St Jude's Anglican 7:30 service (met a guy called Aiden who is a particle physicist, but wants to get into hospitality...)
I have ridden my bike everywhere (except all the suburbs except the city and brunswick)
I have watched Breakfast at Tiffany's in the open air in the Botanical Gardens (it was cold)
I have started work at Hot Dish (they love me)
I have gone melbourne swing dancing (always fun)
I have not been on any sort of public transport (that deserves going by itself)

Day 4 - I have arrived
Salut!
Well today marks my 3rd complete day in Melbourne. It's a weird place. Lots of traffic, noise, ethnicities, and random bits of furniture littering the streets.
I arrived on Wednesday with a fist full of dreams and a car full of stuff. The boat ride over was rather pleasant. Very glad I ended up getting a cabin! Had a nice meal at Seasons a la carte restaurant, and slept very well until the nice lady told me via the speakers to get up.
First big shock was when I arrived in Barkly Street, Brunswick early on Wednesday morning to find that my room is basically the back shed. Or "the Bungalow" as my housemates have put it. I'll post some pictures soon. It's actually not so bad, once you get used to the idea. And its cheap. And I'm renaming it "the mancave". So that makes it better.
Got a new bed though! Queen sized. And a new doona. 95% duck down! I can see you all getting very excited about this, but its helpful to know that I've slept in the same single bed for the last 19 years. It's still got disney stickers all over it. So its a little bit exciting to sleep in a bed where my feet don't dangle over the edge.
Started work at Hot Dish catering. Chef Michael seems pretty cool, and his offsider Renee is really nice. I think I'll do well there. Only problem isI can see myself being tempted to focus too much into this job, and not enough into my studies. But we'll see how it goes.
Well must go, Alexander Francis Power is coming over and we're riding into town to go see Giles the Smoothie Guy.
Intensive New Testament Greek starts on Monday... Alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, theta etc. etc.
